Teaching wrap bracelets in Marrakech

My love for Morocco has stayed with me since I left in 2011 and finally made it back to my village last year 2016.

It was like I had never left when I saw my lovely ladies at the Nedy (womens center) again. Of course first came tea and sweets and catching up on all the local gossip but soon they discovered I was wearing one of my own wrap bracelets. It only took a minute for them to ask me how to make one and to find the beads and cord to create one. As the photos illustrate the ladies were immediately absorbed in the pleasure of creating another piece of jewelry and it was like the good old days again. How I miss my ladies!

Peace Corps

My love for jewelry making began during my Peace Corps service as a Small Business Volunteer in Morocco 2009-2011.
For 2 years I lived in a small apartment an hour south of Marrakech without TV and hot water. My shower was a little
space to take bucket baths and if I wanted hot water I had to boil it on a stove first.
The lack of western comforts really helped with getting my creative juices flowing. It was amazing to discover how much
time I previous had been wasting.The ladies I worked with were very talented local artisans that
needed help with product development and marketing their amazing products. We made dolls, toys and jewelry together to
sell at local craft fairs and stores. For the first time they were making money with their creations. I came back to America
feeling that they taught me more than I had them.

Essential Oils and Diffuser Jewelry Workshop

Come out for a fun and educational night to learn all about essential oils and create beautiful diffuser jewelry to take home with you. You will create a leather diffuser necklace by learning simple techniques. You can customize your creation with lava beads and a selection of decorative beads including copper, ceramic and glass. There will be vegan hemp options available by request.
We will also have light refreshments to enjoy while you learn about essential oils. We will cover what they are, how to select & use, and different ways they can help your physical and emotional wellbeing.
